BIOGRAPHY
Lizzie Bailey, a Floridian by birth, Cuban by heritage, now resides in North Carolina. Her artistic talent is evident in her work in a variety of mediums such as watercolor, acrylic, pen and ink, with her main focus on stained glass.
She combined her vision with her natural artistic talent to create autonomous stained glass three-dimensional panels. In addition, she uses traditional and architectural designs inspired through the eyes of her camera and her world travels. Some of Lizzie’s latest signature pieces demonstrate dimensions reflecting her visits to countries throughout Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
ARTIST STATEMENT
I was primarily self-taught in multiple mediums and come from a family of talented artists. As a child, all forms of art and techniques intrigued me. In 1987, I was introduced to and taught the techniques of stained glass by my mother and grandmother. With glass, I strive to bring vision to the possibilities of a more dimensional view.
I tend to work from observation and my many travels inspire me. From the Bedouin textiles of Jordan to European architecture. I find inner peace when I am creating and combining a vast spectrum of rich colors and endless textures. I am incorporating handmade glass pieces and wire work in a two and three-dimensional contemporary geometric abstract design.
My work, including commissioned work can be found in many private and public collections throughout the world.
